Last Weekend for Halloween Fun

Looking for some scary things to do this Halloween weekend? Harrison County has some frightfully fun activities that will put you in the Halloween mood.

Hayswood's Haunted Theatre

Hayswood Theatre has turned its stage into a haunted theatre and this is the last weekend to enter, if you dare. The haunted theatre will take place on Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30. Tickets for the haunted theatre are $5.00 a person and are only available at the door. The haunted theatre opens at 6:30 p.m. with consecutive tours beginning at 7 p.m. and concluding at 11 p.m.

Terror at The Fun Farm

Experience terror at The Fun Farm this Friday and Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. The Fun Farm has a 3D haunted house and corn maze for you to brave your way through. Admission is $15.00 per person. HCHC Destination Bumper Stickers on Sale NOW!

You’ve seen them before, the oval bumper stickers on cars that are from various destinations, such as “OBX” for the Outer Banks, or “HH” for Hilton Head, well Historic Corydon, Harrison County now has one too. Enjoy Fall Down on the Square this Saturday

Fall Down on the Square will take place this Saturday, October 30, from 3 to 8 p.m. This is the second year for the free festival taking place on the Historic Downtown Corydon Square. Dulcimer Society’s Traditional Music Festival

The Dulcimer Society’s Traditional Music Festival will take place this weekend, October 29 and 30, at O'Bannon Woods State Park. Activities for the weekend will include the dulcimer concert, workshops, crafts, a chili cook-off, pumpkin carving, hay rides, a presentation on bird watching, trick-or-treating, and a campsite decorating contest. 2nd Annual Scout Mountain Fall Shindig

Scout Mountain Winery will host their 2nd Annual Scout Mountain Fall Shindig on Saturday, October 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Owner, Mike will be making his famous 30 gallon cast iron pot of beans and ham, and wife and owner, Margaret, will prepare the cornbread. They will also have live music and hopefully, if we get some rain, a bon fire. Just bring your lawn chair and favorite people. The event benefits the local Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.). This year marks the 76th consecutive running year for Corydon’s annual Halloween Parade on Capital Avenue; making this one of the longest running parades in the country. The parade will take place on Saturday, October 23 at 6 p.m. A costume contest will be held on the Hurley D. Conrad Memorial Bandstand at 4 p.m. The contest is open to all ages. Southern Indiana FiberArts Festival Presented by Fiber eXchange Guild

The Fiber eXchange Guild presents the Southern Indiana FiberArts Festival at the Harrison County Fairgrounds (341 S. Capitol Ave., in Historic Downtown Corydon) on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16. The festival, with free admission and parking, will consist of workshops, demonstrations, hands-on activities, live music, fiber animals plus the world's greatest vendors with everything you need for fiber arts.

Vendors include: raw fleece; roving; spinning supplies; needle felting supplies; dyes; yarns; items needed to knit, crochet, weave; and things you won't know you need until you see them, not to mention handmade, one-of-a-kind, unique finished items.

The festival will take place on Friday, October 15 from 1 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, October 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Deere Farms Offers Many Fun Fall Activities

Deere Farms, located at 1565 St. John's Church Road NE in Lanesville, has a variety of fun fall activities this year.

  • Haunted Maze - Take a wagon ride through the woods to the haunted maze and let your adventure begin. Ages 13 and up permitted. 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 8 p.m. till midnight. Admission $15 per person.
  • Corn Maze - 2010 Corn Maze is 14 acres with over 6.8 miles of paths in three separate mazes. Bring your walking shoes and your sense of adventure.
  • Bengal Tiger Exhibit - Saturdays and Sundays in October from noon to 4 p.m. to benefit Wildlife in Need.

Experience Deere Farms' Haunted Maze - If you dare!

Deere Farms Haunted Maze, Woods and Farm will start by taking you on an adventure across the farm in the dark and dropping you off at the Entrance to the Haunted Maze. More than 25 creatures and psycho mad men will be waiting for you as you venture through the maze. When you exit the maze, you will find your way past the cemetery and into the woods. Look out for moving trees and bridge crossings. Once you exit the woods, you will find your way back into the second half of the corn maze for a second dose. The shuttle will take you back to the Admissions area where you will be directed to the second half of the 2010 Adventure through the Barn lot and into several abandoned buildings and barns. This is not recommended for the very young. Only ages 13 and up are permitted and minors under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. It will be truly A-maze-ing.....if you survive. The haunted maze will be open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 8 p.m. till midnight. Admission is $15 per person. Deere Farms is located at 1565 St. John's Church Road NE in Lanesville.
