James Best Returns to His Home Town, Corydon

James BestJames Best, most widely known for his role as Rosco P. Coltrane in the long running television hit, "The Dukes of Hazzard", will return to his home town of Corydon for a brief visit in June. Best is also well known for his reoccurring role as the guitar player, Jim Lindsey on the "Andy Griffith Show" and appeared in more than 600 television shows including, "The Twilight Zone", "Gunsmoke", "Rawhide", "Wagon Train", "The Rebel", "Bonanza", "Mod Squad", "Perry Mason" and "The Fugitive", to name a few.

Several events have been planned by the Historical Society of Harrison County to be held at Hayswood Theatre, the Gerdon Youth Center and the Harrison County Community Foundation. Mr. Best will present three performances of his one man show, "In His Own Words," at Hayswood Theatre. The first performances will be Thursday, June 3, Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5. Each performance will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and include a reception with snacks to give attendees an opportunity to meet Mr. Best. Tickets can be purchased at the Blaine H. Wiseman Visitor Center by cash or check (made out to the Historical Society of Harrison County).

A brief ceremony to honor Best will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, followed by a book signing at the Gerdon Youth Center (former Corydon High School, which Best attended in the 1940s). Best will be autographing copies of his new autobiography "Best in Hollywood: The Good, The Bad and the Beautiful." Books will be available for purchase at the event for $25 or can be ordered from
www.jamesbest.com. Autographed photos will also be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.
