"Smoke on the Mountain: Homecoming" Tickets Now Available

The hit Sanders family musicals return to Hayswood Theatre this summer with Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming. This is the third and final installment of the toe-tappin', bluegrass gospel musicals that have been charming audiences for over 20 years.

In Homecoming, it's October, 1945, and the gospel-singing Sanders Family is back together again. The war is over and America's years of prosperity are just beginning. But there's another kind of rite of passage at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where Reverend Mervin Oglethorpe is giving his last service. He's been called to preach in Texas, and he's already bought a ten-gallon hat and is preparing to ride into the sunset with his wife June, who is eight months pregnant. Denise and her husband join Mervin and June in starting the baby boom. Tomorrow morning, young Dennis Sanders takes over as Mount Pleasant's pastor. Join the Sanders Family as they send Mervin and June off in style, with hilarious and touching stories and twenty-five bluegrass gospel favorites.

Directed by Ron McClure Jr.-who's been the musical director for each of Hayswood Theatre's previous Sanders family productions-Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming also features many of the actors from previous productions of Smoke on the Mountain. Patty McClure will return as “June,” Jordon Black returns as “Dennis,” as well as Tom Gudding (Tommy Lee from 102.3, the MAX), Dan Goins and Ron McClure Sr.

Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming-written by Connie Ray and conceived by Alan Bailey, with musical arrangements by Mike Craver- runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from July 16 through August 1 at Hayswood Theatre, located on the square in historic downtown Corydon, Indiana.

Don’t miss your chance to see Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming! Tickets are available at the Blaine H. Wiseman Visitor Center by 888738-2137. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Hayswood Theatre is located at 115 Capitol Avenue in Corydon, Indiana. The box office is open daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., except Sundays, when it is open 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
